Katia´s presentation

Radio has been a very important mass media, to imform people, the Radio was used to inform about the beginning of the second world war.

To me, the outstanding point was that the WWII had a mayor impact on the music, and also on what they used to play on the radio. Also I think it was a big opener for the diferent immigrated people to become part of the UK through their new musical styles.

And we still listen to some of those songs…

  1. Yes, radio was a double-edged sword because on the one side it was used to “inform” or manipulate people (about the situation that was happening at the moment ); Hitle’s propaganda through the radio is a good example . On the other side , radio was used as a medium of entertainment for people who were suffering the events of the war.

  2. As has always been the case with mass media. I think it is impossible for governements to stay out of people’s lives because of the notion of control. I you don’t control your own people then you lose power. It is interesting to note how we are always talking about government and what not, but we never try to think what a position like that would be for anyone of us. Just a little thing to think about.

    • Katia´s presentation . Although radio has been highly influential in people’s life through history , i think nowadays radio has lost audience owing the existence of new mass media as internet ,due to the social diversity and the evolution of different audiences , who are more and more difficult to satisfy .

  3. The radio had a lot of popularity with the ww2 both uk and usa. In the middle of ww2 the radio was the first medium to inform people about what was happening. But like everything it had influence by the government. Now a days radio is seen as entertainment more than anything. Valessa
